advice/pattern for knitting hobo gloves…?

i want to make thick, comfy gloves whose fingers end half-way up, the so-called fingerless hobo gloves. it would also be great if they went down my wrists for about three inches. i’m not much of a knitter (i usually crochet), so i’m looking for a relatively simple, but strong and pretty pattern. also, i would appreciate advice regarding the appropriate size needles and yarn.

I am making these now. They are fingering weight (sock yarn) and super easy!
