I need ideas on organizing my crochet stash – Help!?
I have been crocheting for over 12 years and have built up quite a stash of yarns, hook, books, patterns, and other paraphenalia. What I want to know is there anyone out there with some solid ideas on how to organize all this stuff? Where I live, it is VERY dusty. So I do not feel I can leave my yarns on shelves or in nooks without it getting really dirty. Also, I am one of the lucky ones, I have an attic room with slanted ceilings to devote to my crafts. any ideas people.
I live in a dusty area too. I keep it in those clear-ish Totes with a clear blue lid, in a closet. What does not fit into the totes is in cardboard boxes (sorted by color) turned on their sides and stacked, with the tops kept open and facing out (so I can see them all) kept in that same closet. This keeps them pretty dust free and visable each time I open the closet.
If that’s not dust free enough for you, try storing them in 1 gallon (or larger if you can find them) ziplock bags.
I keep my hooks, scissors needles etc in a plastic sandwich bag at my desk along with other misc supplies, I tried the glasses case and found them to short for my hooks. You can also keep yout hooks and scissors in a pencil cup on the desk. I file all my patterns and soap recipes in my desk file drawer, since this is where I do all the research and planning of what to make next.
