sewing lace overlay
I need help with a skirt for a dress. PLEASE HELP.?

this is my dress pattern

http://www.simplicity.com/dv1_v4.cfm?design=4070

it’s the pink design with the lace overlay.

my lace has a scaloped edge
that I would very much like to keep
any ideas on how I could sew the overlay
& keep the edge of my lace?

it’s a full skirt, as you can prob see.
I have the top sewed so far,
all I have to do to finish it
is sew the side seams on the lace overlay skirt,
sew the top half && bottom half together,
&& the zipper in the back.
I*m planning on having a ribbon
where the seams for the top && bottom are too.

if you want to help & want to chat about the dress,
you can leave your AIM or YIM name
&& I will get back to you

if you have any questions
I will try to answer them in the details
if you will help me after reading them. :]

PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME
I really want this to be a pretty dress.
yea yea yea

but I need help
with ideas
for keeping a scalopped edge
of the lace on the full skirt.

the first question i have is do you already have the lace for the skirt cut? it you don’t you can lay the pattern so that the bottom of the skirt is at the scallop edge of the fabric. if you already have the lace cut you could add the scallop edge to the bottom of the skirt. what you would do is cut the lace with the scallop on it maybe 5 or 6 inches wide. sew it to the skirt in the proper place so that it would end at the hemline. since you are using a pink ribbon around the waist you could also cover the seam where you put the lace together with ribbon. if you need further explanation please e-mail me at needmoreplease@yahoo.com

hope i’ve helped.
