antique knitting tools
Info / resources on a wire tool possibly ancient craft? Probably the hook.?

Some time ago I received an unusual hook type tool craft. I have been crocheting since I was 8 years and knitting for many years as well, but I never seen anything like it. The tool is made of wood, about 18 "long and has a hook at each end. That's about 1 / 2" in diameter. There was an unfinished play about this tool when I first got it. The piece, made of a thick wire, seemed to be working directly on the tool with the tool vs, as in regular crochet. I love crafts antique-style, like lace hairpin. I would not be surprised if this tool is also double hook homemaking skills of a bygone era. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I love to put this tool wisely. Thank you in advance. Thank you to both who responded. Survey based on your help revealed that the double-ended hook is also used in Tunisian style hook, much like Afghanistan.

You have a dual-purpose hook. It's like using a hook Afghanistan. It is also called crohooking. There are tons of designs for your hook there. In fact, I made a baby blanket from an "I" double-ended hook and it was fun to do. Here are some sites. Hope this helps. Mary
