Is Mid-City New Orleans a safe place to stay? I booked a hotel at 3900 Tulane Ave. (S. Carrolton Ave @.)?
I booked a hotel at 3900 Tulane Ave. which is about 2 blocks south of S. Carrolton Ave. I do not know this area. The comments someone who has been in the area would be greatly appreciated. I've been researching "bad" areas of NO, however, find nothing on this area. I believe that New Orleans offers the same danger inherent in any large city, however, I would like to know what areas are worse than others. NO is a mosaic of areas of good and evil …… I just want info on this particular area and surrounding neighborhoods. Thank you in advance!
I disagree with both NOLAguy. I must say it is very shady. I used to go to a bar on Avenue Tulane train called pseudo grand avenue Tulane 2400 and he had to constantly walk the mad for it does not end being evicted or arrested. If I were you, I stay away from all the hotels on Tulane Avenue. these hotels get a lot of street people who live there. and to top it all someone has been killed there. I remember this story, but can not remember which hotel until I googled the story. This is the hotel. here is http://www.nola.com/crime/index.ssf/2009/08/slain_midtown_hotel_owner_work.html http://www.nola.com/crime/index.ssf/2009/09/suspect_booked_in_murder_of_tu.html Citation the article published 09/05/2009 "Chacko, who was celebrated for the opening of his hotel for homeless residents, was shot in the chest about 9:50 p.m. at his hotel, police said. Officers found him alive but he died shortly after his arrival at the emergency room "And another of 21 August 2009". Chacko, who owned and lived at the Midtown Hotel in the 3900 block of Tulane Avenue, died after a man broke into his hotel lobby and aimed a gun on him Sunday around 9:40 p.m., the New Orleans Police Department said. The man fired. A ball Chacko was hit in the chest. The gunman ran out of the hotel and fled, police said. "Chacko opened Midtown Hotel certain of the most sick and disabled population homeless, "said Angela Patterson, head of the Outreach Team Unity. He allowed until 100 people homeless at the height of the outbreak, "said Miller. "I stand by my answer. It's yours if you want to stay at the hotel regularly used by homeless people and the house of murder. It's yours. Oh and nolaguy about me not knowing about this area because we attended bar. Where do you live as fools. Where do you keep them?? They walk and say that im staying at hotel in the street and I just just released from the hospital can you lend me money for the bus? They began to preach at you until you give money. In this case, the bar owner often starts everyone out. There is a reason why there is a cop in the bar all the time. It will not let anyone walk to their car alone. Thats should tell you something about this neighborhood. The fact of how long the guy who was shot was the owner does not matter the neighborhood has always been a slum for prostitutes, drug addicts and the homeless. Nolaguy that does not live in New Orleans shows that more do not know about this region. Jude-ha. Yes. It has a little history. The parents went there, grandparents went there. many generations! It has a some great history! He is a fighter! Two hurricanes have hit the wrong place. I picture this one just after the hurricane struck. Surprising it was still standing! It is a great bar and more crazy that was red, and drink all in blue. A homeless man would come and clean up after people throwing bottles and get the tenth free from the bartenders. The SDF has been caught in the act with another homeless woman in the courtyard (which was not open to patrons) of nicks by the owner. Let it never returned. Summary Some people came to this place! Another night, a guy pulled out a gun at someone in the street outside. And a crazy guy just started to choke one of the bars back girlfriends because he said she ridiculed him. It was terrible. After that, they had the cops out of all time and we stopped going. For the neighborhood is going bad criminals. It should reopen in fall 2008 but I think they had problems. Do you remember the names drink? As * c * 1800F me up. for an example. They had such a fun drink menu. Just before the hurricane, they had transformed him open the back yard with a front patio with a fence. It was looking good and he still had the old bottles in the same place they were returning back to their day. The bar remained as was like in the 1960s. His bad the hurricane hit they were so beautiful it was. And security was better and better. When I looked in the window after the hurricane all the old bottles were still standing and looking like they almost straight held the roof up. It has been ransacked. At least the door was always locked and it was not looted. Zarian-We are not bad mouth Mid City, we are simply saying Tulane Avenue is not a good place. He just said it yourself. If you can see we are bad mouth ALL Midcity ?????
