crochet vs knitting
Crocheting vs Knitting?

OK, which is which? Which uses one needle and which uses two? Which do you prefer? Which is easier to learn? And is there a difference when making a blanket or scarves? (I have never done any of it and am real curious) Please answer All of the questions if possible, if not anyone else, please! Thanks y’all!

As the others have already stated, crochet uses 1 hook (although they often *used* to be called needles),

whereas knitting uses needles (at least 2).

I happen to prefer crochet, perhaps because it’s what I first learned how to do, and it’s easier on my hands (old car accident). I prefer crochet for lacier projects like doilies, open work sweaters, and scrunchies, but I also like knitting because of the wonderful drape. Knitting uses less yarn, too. You didn’t mention it, but I *do* like loom knitting, because I can knit without messing up my tendons. You can see what they look like here:

Some people say that if you can hold a pencil and write, then you can learn to crochet. Lots say it’s easier to knit, and that they’ve tried to crochet and prefer knitting. It all depends on the person, and really it depends on what it is you wish to make and what look you’re going for. Me, I crochet, and I can loom knit, although I can’t really do regular knitting. I find it hard! ;-D

Sure there is! A scarf is faster, and is just one panel. If you’re going to either knit or crochet, a scarf is a great idea, or a dish cloth. Blankets are fun to make, but I think that if you want to make one, try a baby blanket first. It will go faster and you can get a good idea if you want to make a larger one, say, for your bed, or just make an afghan to cuddle up in while you watch TV.
