
Granny Square Crochet
With the renewed interest in crochet, caused as a result of its use in fashion ready-to-wear, and interest no persistent ancient, vintage or nostalgic – most often seen in the phenomenon of the patchwork quilt – it also came a growing interest in crochet, in general, and the manufacture of carpets, shawls, plaids, etc. in the style commonly called "Granny Square Crochet."
This beloved style of hook is probably the reason most universally recognized the hook around the world. Its popularity stems from the fact that it is made from points base and is therefore quick and easy, it is small, portable, fast, and uses bits of son left by other projects. Now do not get me wrong – I'm not saying crochet granny square is not beautiful, because it certainly has a beauty all its own. With its beautiful colors, the patterns and textures that it has its aesthetic beauty, but also an ethereal beauty, too, or "soul" – the ability to touch our hearts, perhaps because it connects us to "human nature" of those who did, and also because it is so convenient. Granny carpet squares, shawls and throws are items "comfort." They are also very satisfying to do.
If you have not yet addressed Crochet project – perhaps because you do not know what to do – then granny square crochet can be the best way to start, once you know your first basis points. The fabulous thing about crochet granny squares for a beginner is that each square is quite small and easy to get done, so you can just pick one here and there when you have some time. It really will not take long at all before you have enough to put together to make a thing. I've seen them used to make cushion covers, blankets, doll, and even pot holders, so you see some things useful and beautiful, you can do with only a very small number of places, or even just two!
